The Award
FSC Italia Award – Furniture is a competition established in 2019 by FSC Italia to acknowledge the commitment of FSC certified companies to manufacturing products using FSC certified timber in the ‘Interior Decor’ and ‘Outdoor and Garden Decor’ categories.
To observe the Covid-19 prevention measures currently in place, the award ceremony took place online. The guests included Diego Florian, FSC Italia Director, Isabella Pratesi, WWF Italia Conservation Programme Director, David Pambianco, CEO Pambianco Strategie di Impresa, Claudio Feltrin, Chairman of FederlegnoArredo, and Sara Colautti, CSIL Industries Studies Director, who introduced the ceremony with a round table to discuss ‘Friendly to people and the environment: a New Dimension for Décor’, moderated by Antonella Andriani, ADI Vice President.
UNO Contract has been awarded the Special Chain of Custody-FederlegnoArredo Award, handed over virtually by the Chairman of FederlegnoArredo, Claudio Feltrin.
Chain of Custody
The FSC Chain of Custody is a system designed to guarantee complete traceability and tracking of information regarding the course taken by products from the forest – or in the case of recycled material, from the collection site – to the consumer. It includes each stage of processing, transformation, production and distribution, where going from one stage to the next involves a change of product and material ownership. This standard establishes the minimum requirements to be observed by a Chain of Custody system to prove that the materials and products purchased, labelled and sold as FSC certified are exactly that, and that every associated declaration is correct and truthful.
UNO Contract, in the furniture trade for 35 years, has always been sensitive to constantly improving its own standard of sustainability.
“This award highlights a path started many years ago in pur company. We work in the contract sector, where the characteristics of the products are chosen by customers, and where little attention has been given to sustainability so far. Recently we have created a collection designed specially for the Hospitality industry, UNO Essential, in compliance with all sustainability features according to FSC standards. In this way we wanted to raise awareness of this subject even in our sector.”

Our commitment
The recent UNO Essential Collection launched online on 23 September and designed by the Ciarmoli Queda Studio, is the latest example of this commitment. All the furniture in the collection is made of wood from responsibly managed forests that comply strictly with FSC standards. For all the species involved, finishing is carried out exclusively with water-based varnishes and the use of plastic has been entirely eliminated from every component involved.
