For Uno Contract Venice has always been a reference point that inspires its work. This city hosts a long tradition of crafted furniture that today is modernising and discovering the dynamics of excellence labelled Made in Italy.
In recent years, Uno Contract has chosen to support Venice in several ways through a series of activities inspired by the logic of the Economy of Beauty, a concept promoted by journalist Emilio Casalini and founded on the idea that implementing cultural and social initiatives brings economic advantages to the entire territory.
Ours is a way of giving back to the territory the immense value
that we as a company receive from it.
In June 2020, while preparing for the launch of the Uno Essential collection, the first Italian designer contract collection to provide customisation and the opportunity to purchase online, the company decided to illustrate the collection through a photographic shoot against the unmistakable background of Venice. Shooting took place in an unusual Venice, deserted and silent, the hordes of tourists who usually come to visit from all parts of the world nowhere in sight.
In this context, the ‘Extraordinary Openings’ of the Venice Pavilion brought verve to the Giardini della Biennale, through encounters and dialogues with celebrities such as Ferzan Özpetek, Michele De Lucchi and Diodato. As a partner, Uno Contract not only sponsored the event, but also provided Virna armchairs and Ciro poufs from the Uno Essential Collection, upholstered with ‘Arti e Mestieri’ fabrics specially designed by Simone Ciarmoli and Miguel Queda, to furnish the elegant lounge that hosted the occasion.
The decor then went on to the 77th Venice International Film Festival. The famous Hotel Ausonia Hungaria in the heart of Venice Lido chose Uno Contract to furnish the parlours dedicated to interviews with the festival’s protagonists, such as Anna Foglietta, festival host, actors Alessio Boni and Violante Placido, and many more.
At the press event to launch the Uno Essential Collection, held at the end of September 2020, Uno Contract had the good fortune to make contact with Pieces of Venice, a winner at the 2020 edition of the Compasso d’Oro. This led to our friendship with Karin Friebel and Luciano Marson who have worked with us on several initiatives.
From Serie B…
Some months later, our decision to sponsor the Venezia FC football team, supporting the city also through sport, was rewarded by the promotion of the team to Serie A. To celebrate this dream come true after 19 years, president Duncan Niederauer took a dive into the canal.
…to Serie A
As Official Sponsor of a Serie A team, Uno Contract contributed to the restoration of Stadio Penzo, one of Italy’s oldest stadiums. In record time we set up the VIP Hospitality Lounge: an area with a privileged view of the pitch, reserved for important guests.
And the VIP Hospitality Lounge
The hard work dedicated to the refitting operation highlights the company’s ability to work on projects of different dimensions, from large luxury hotels and cruise ships to niche projects, always guaranteeing tight delivery schedules and top quality products.
Once again, our company was chosen as a partner, this time for a new project in the Venice Pavilion, named ‘Know how to use what we know’, part of the 2021 Architecture Biennial, whose slogan was “How will we live together?”. Protagonist of the exhibition was the internationally renowned architect Michele De Lucchi with his AMDL Circle and “Education Stations”, areas conceived to employ the qualities of architecture as a tool for education. The official opening took place in the presence of the Mayor of Venice, Luigi Brugnaro, and Ministers Dario Franceschini and Renato Brunetta.
Our cooperation with Ca’ Foscari Challenge School, a further education training school run by the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, has given us great satisfaction. Uno Contract was a partner for the 2020-2021 edition of the Master course in ‘Eastern European Economics and Languages. Eurasia’s Emerging Nations’, which trains specialists in international business relations, consultants and export managers, focussing on Russian and Eurasian markets. Uno Contract involved the students in a study project dedicated to the sale and promotion of the Uno Essential Collection in the Russian Federation, a cooperation that gave the company the opportunity to examine several interesting ideas on which it can work to boost its presence in Russia.
In recognition of our commitment to the city of Venice and our attention towards sustainability, Uno Contract was also chosen as a partner in the VID Venice Innovation Design initiative of 2021, held on the island of San Servolo. The main theme of the 2021 edition was sustainable design, an important factor in determining the result of future business challenges. On this occasion, the company provided the Sala Grecale with decor from the Uno Essential Collection, and the items will remain on the island permanently. In addition, in cooperation with Pieces of Venice, we presented all guests with a special gadget, a small Taxi made out of reclaimed wood from the ‘bricole’, the groups of posts driven into the bed of the Venice Lagoon. This attractive object encapsulates all the values represented in a wonderful event, which culminated in the magnificent fireworks of the Feast of the Redentore.
